Blenders are loud, they water your drink down with ice, and they make one round at a time while everyone waits. There is an easier way to get a real frozen daiquiri at home: let the freezer do the work overnight.
What you need
- One bottle of Daiquiri Joe (16 oz, makes 8 drinks): Hurricane, Margarita or Strawberry.
- The Daiquiri Joe mixing bag, which comes free with every Party Pack. No bag? See below.
- Water, straight from the tap.
- Your spirit of choice, if you want one. Totally optional.
The method
- Pour. Empty the bottle of mix into the mixing bag.
- Spike it (or don’t). Fill the empty bottle with your spirit and add it to the bag. Skip this step for a mocktail.
- Add water. Fill the bottle with water twice, add it to the bag, seal it and shake well.
- Freeze and pour. Freeze the bag overnight, then pour into glasses or a pitcher.
That’s it. No ice to crush, no blender to clean, and the whole batch is ready at once.
Tips for the best slush
- Make it the night before. Overnight is the magic number, so plan your batch the evening before the party.
- Knead before you pour. Give the frozen bag a few squeezes to break it into an even slush.
- Mocktails freeze firmer. Alcohol lowers the freezing point, so a batch without spirits sets up harder. Let it sit on the counter for a few minutes, then knead and pour.
No mixing bag?
Buying a single bottle? Mix it the same way in a pitcher, or run it through your own daiquiri machine if you have one.
Which flavor, which spirit?
Every flavor works with zero alcohol. If you are adding a spirit, here is what we reach for first:
- Hurricane: dark rum
- Margarita: silver tequila
- Strawberry: white rum
